Let Drip remind you

How the amount is worked out

Weight is the base: 35 ml per kilogram for men, 31 ml for women. Height adjusts it slightly: each centimetre above 170 adds 3 ml, each centimetre below takes 3 ml away.

A workout day adds 500 ml. The result is rounded to 50 ml and kept between 1,500 and 4,500 ml, so it never suggests too little or too much.

An example

A man, 180 cm, 80 kg: 80 × 35 = 2,800 ml, plus 10 cm × 3 = 30 ml. That makes 2,830, rounded to 2,850 ml, or 11 glasses of 250 ml.

A woman, 165 cm, 55 kg: 55 × 31 = 1,705 ml, minus 5 cm × 3 = 15 ml. That makes 1,690, rounded to 1,700 ml, or 7 glasses.

What counts towards it

Not just water. Tea counts 95%, coffee and milk 90%, juice and soda 85%, beer 60%. Drip does the maths: you log the drink, and the droplet works out how much of it counts.

Questions

How much water should I drink a day for my weight?

By Drip’s formula, 35 ml per kilogram for men and 31 ml for women, adjusted for height, plus 500 ml on a workout day. Get your exact number in the calculator above.

Can I drink more than that?

The calculator never suggests more than 4,500 ml a day. If you feel like drinking far more than usual, talk to a doctor rather than raising the amount.

How do I remember to drink it?

Open Drip in Telegram: the droplet works out the same amount, reminds you on your schedule and keeps quiet when you are ahead.

This is not medical advice. If you have kidney or heart problems, are pregnant or your doctor limits fluids, your doctor sets the amount.
